The New River Flats suffered even further damage on Thursday, April 5, 2007 when one of the flats caught fire.

Even after four months, the flats still reflect the devastating effects of the flood.

The Council has offered continuous support and Thames Water has promised to cover the cost of damages as well as any expenditure residents encountered as a result of the evacuation.

Although the flats were only built in 2005, residents said that they believed problems were inevitable.

New River residents, who were allowed to move back into the development two days after being evacuated, are living in sub-par conditions.
